A Few Last Quotes for 2007
"Grow Old Along With Me"
Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be;
the last of life, for which the first was made.
Our times are in His hand Who saith,
"A whole I planned; youth shows but half;
trust God, see all, nor be afraid!"
Robert Browning

A Prayer for Animals
Hear our humble prayer, O God,
for our friends, the animals. Especially for animals
who are suffering; for any that are hunted or lost
or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death.
We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity.
And for those who deal with them,
we ask a heart of compassion, gentle and kindly words.
Make us true friends of the animals
and so to share the blessings of the merciful.
Albert Schweitzer

"Love is not an activity of the mind, but is the
'pure and luminous essence' which creates mind."
St. Germain
"This essence from the Great God Flame streams into substance, and constantly pours itself out, as perfection in form and action. Love is Perfection manifest. It can only express peace, joy, and an outpouring of those feelings to all creation -- unconditionally. It asks nothing for itself because it is eternally self-creating, being the heartbeat of the Supreme. Love owns All and is only concerned with setting the plan of Perfection into action in all. Thus, it is a constant pouring out of Itself. It takes no cognizance of what has been given in the past, but receives its joy and maintains its balance by the continual outstreaming of Itself. Because this Perfection is within Love, forever flowing forth, It is incapable of recording anything but Itself."
St. Germain

To Build A Dream...

"IF"
If only I had the money to advertise my books, I could begin to fulfill my dream.
But I don't, so I'll have to rely on my blog to do the selling for me!
Someday, I'd like to open a wholistic healing center/resort/spa for people in need of healing, whether or not they have the money to spend on a healing retreat.
IF...
Half a million people bought my little prayer book, Sister's Little Book of Prayers, I'd have the finances I need to start the project. It's only $10, and postage is $2 anywhere. It seems to me to be a profound and inspiring little collection. (But then again, I guess I'd have to say that!) And it makes a great gift!
IF...
You'd like to see what it's about, here's a new sample. (The "Now Power" prayer and "Prayer for the Third Millenium" are two from this blog that are in the booklet.) The booklet has 20 prayers for many different occasions.

"Thank You"
...for another sunrise...another breath...another look...another touch...a new chance to fill every moment with Love. Thank You for the quiet and the sound...the food and the fast...the laughter and the tears...the joy and the sorrow...birth and death...yin and yang.

Thank You, unnamable One, for all my gifts and blessings. Thank You for the gift of sight, that I may see You in all things. Thank You for the gift of hearing, that Your cosmic OM will fill my being. Thank You for Your light, that I may feel Your presence with me always.

Thank You for the peace that fills my heart knowing You are Love. Thank You for this sunset that trails the veil of night behind it...to lull us into sleep...to heal...to fly...to awaken into yet another sunrise to be grateful for.
Amen c Sr95

While I'm at it, here's an excerpt from my first book, Wholistic Youthing...A Woman's Guide to Slowing Aging.

From the Introduction:

God knows we want to stay young...postpone aging...put death as far away from us as possible, for as long as possible. But how do we do that?
In a world where suffering is the norm, it amazes this soul that so many of us cling to suffering and pain, even prolonging life when death waits impatiently with its foot in the door. Then I remember that most of us are ego-bound and asleep. We want to stay young in spite of the pain and suffering all around us, because we're still looking for happiness for ourselves...our lesser selves. And sadly, too, we in America are living in a youth-oriented culture. We know no other way. We never learned to respect age, our elders, their precious wisdom. And we are filled with hope that "things will get better". (Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better, however, for we are at the end of one Age and the beginning of another!) If we only knew what our souls already know, we'd live longer and happier lives! 100 years would be the average! And we'd cross death's threshold in peace, most likely slipping out of our bodies while we sleep.
On the wheel of life, death is just the other side of birth. And, as the prophets remind us, there really is no death to the eternal. Simply passages through planes and dimensions, through time and space, incarnating again and again as the eternal soul seeks reunion with the Creator, learning Love's lessons along the way. And we're all going to keep coming around and around until we all get it right. There is heard a cosmic giggle as a soul passes through Gaia. Aah...listen to it now...o...m....

...
Now, based on the awareness that our happiness and health come from balance, in peace and joy-filled moments accruing over time, we may conclude that serving the God within serves the God without. That when we self-actualize, we are in the creative position to share love and truth with others, thereby helping bring peace to the world. For when even one person radiates the loving God within, the vibration is felt throughout the heavens and all humanity is enriched.
With a light heart, may this guide help us integrate our physical bodies with our eternal souls, our divine spark...to bring us joy and peace...and extend our Earthly presence, in God's service, and through God's light and love.
Happy Youthing!! c CM2000

And an excerpt from the Introduction to Prepare to Die...A Text and Workbook:

"I find it delightful that the optimal way I can live my life from moment-to-moment is also the optimal way I can prepare for my death, and equally delightful that acknowledging our future death is a prerequisite for living a truly joyful life now."
Ram Dass, Still Here, c 2000

God knows we don't have any problem talking about sex, politics or religion these days, but the
subject of death is still largely taboo in popular American culture. Not only are we profoundly backward in every regard, from burial customs, euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide to popular beliefs about the afterlife, unless we soon lighten up and face death head on, humanity is doomed to suffer life interminably, until there is no life left to suffer.
By raising our collective consciousness to a level of "right understanding" of divine nature, we lift humanity itself toward successful reunion with God. To that end, let us begin to...
"practice dying".
(Plato, to his pupils, on his deathbed)

From Gary Schwartz's THE ENERGY HEALING EXPERIMENTS -- Science Reveals Our Natural Power to Heal...

We may, therefore, regard matter as being constituted by the regions of space in which the [energy] field is extremely intense... . There is no place in this new kind of physics both for the field and matter, for the field is the only reality.

"Now Power"
Grant me the strength, Creator,
to greet this new day
with a joyful, open, smiling heart.
To see its beauty and soak up its light.
To live each moment fully,
aware of the potential for creation
that is the true power.
Help me to surrender my lower self
so that my higher self may rule.
Help me to create my own heaven on Earth
by letting go of all my fears,
so that I may instead
fill each moment with love.
Help me to be grateful for each moment
and all that is created in it
from God through me.
Amen

What is the difference between our soul and spirit?
The spirit is the whole. The soul is the individual. The soul of a man is a mere speck in space, yet the soul -- though indefinite -- is that vital force or activity which is everlasting.
What is the nature of spirit?
Spirit is the First Cause, the primary beginning, and the motivative influence -- as God is spirit. Spirit is...the life itself of the soul, whether in man, in a nation, in a city, in a group, or what.

"Prayer for the Third Millenium"

Let us take the time, offered as a prayer and a promise,
to inscribe on the clean slate of this pure, unsullied 1000 years,
our highest motivations to manifest Divine potential
by living every moment in radiant Love.
Ever conscious of the Divine in-breath and out-breath, thinking purely, with compassion, honoring Truth, acting with grace, kindness and charity in every moment, hour, day, and decade with which we are blessed, we reveal our Divinity throughout this Earthly life.
May we bear in our minds and hearts the wisdom of unity, the knowing that all life is One, respect for all species and Mother Earth, with intolerance of unrighteous, ego-dominated planetary corruption or exploitation in any form.
Our prayers include pleas for strength to serve the Divine, patience and moderation in our daily affairs, as well as gratitude for all the blessings we recognize in our lives as we enter this challenging new era.
We pray for continued Divine protection as the turbulence arising in the years to come increases, and are grateful for the care we have always received from the higher powers.
With gratitude to life itself...blessings to Earth and all that moves upon it.

"Must There Always Be War?"
We can choose to end all fighting everywhere. All war. Oh yes we can. It is said, "The only way to have peace is to BE peaceful." The only way to get more love is to be more loving.
What we give, we get. What we send out, comes back.
When we are taught from birth to respect all life, in all its' forms, colors, manifestations...
When we come to realize the interconnectedness of the life force, the entire web of life, throughout infinity, the created constantly arising from and receding into the uncreated ground of being...silence to sound, stillness to motion, movement to rest...
When we transcend duality and feel the deep peace in our hearts that is our birthright, when we truly experience the divine in all sentience, when our gratitude inspires devotion with humility always, and fully living the truth and beauty of the present moment has allowed us transparency...
When we become aware of the bounty of Earth, and our place and obligations here, and realize that there is enough for all life to not only survive but thrive if we only take care of our planet...that it is a question of distribution of goods and services, wealth and resources...with kindness of intention and benevolence of thought, compassionate action and generosity of heart, we manifest abundance in our little world.
But here lies the rub.
We who have aged and gained a little wisdom are too old to do anything about it! By the time we have come to these realizations, we are old. You rarely meet an enlightened twenty-something. No one listens to us talk about the true stuff. So inevitably we, as a species, are bound to repeat our mistakes, millenia after millenia.
And we forget.
So quickly we forget! By the time we are seven, most of us have forgotten everything our subconscious and supraconscious can recall of truth. Since our parents don't remember either, they're not much help. And our lives pass by so quickly, we don't believe it is over by the time Death comes for us. What a shock! We've come and gone so quickly!
So it up to the teachers -- as always.
Education is the key. If we need to be reminded, and we do now more than ever, let those of us who have gained some of this wisdom expound it to the rest of us. We need to be reminded...we need to learn. Over and over again. Generation after generation. Person to person. Millenia upon millenia. It is in the forgetful times that we choose war.
We need to see the big picture. There is enough for all. And we need to love one another. It's that simple.
As most wars are (un)holy wars of some sort, it is this "my God is the one true God" mentality that dominates the scene. It is a scene played out mostly by the testosterone-fueled power trips of a few arrogant, egotistical, radical religious extremists of many colors, from all over the world. East or West, war erupts. But what war was ever started by a woman? For reasons as varied as private gain to world domination, war arises from the small-minded men who are not raised to respect all life because they themselves did not actually give birth. But the women always respect life, and then are forced to endure the loss of those precious sparks of the divine on the battlefields of this poor planet.
Haven't all the great traditions advocated love? What is all this fighting for that love alone can't cure?
So we see, war is man's business. But we are all taught to live in fear, for the most part. A fear of lack of abundance in one form or another. Fear breeds greed and many other ego-based human conditions. Where are the mothers who are teaching their sons peaceful ways? Is it only those of us who are raised Quakers, Buddhists, or pacifists who live fully in peace and bring their children up in peaceful practice? Peace arises from the stillness of the ground of being from which abundance also arises. Call it what you may (although to name it is to diminish it). Peace is not to be feared. Peace is never boring. Peace allows love to flow, permeate and dominate.
Where there is love, there is no war.
May we always choose love.
